Monday, September 03, 2001Natasha finally died around three o'clock today. We were going to have her euthanized last Wednesday at the pet clinic she used to go to when we first moved here, but when Stan who was under stress made the appointment on Tuesday, he confusedly called the wrong place. So when we arrived, they had no record of our appointment, and it was too far to go to travel to the other one that he did call. We made another appointment for the following day, Thursday, but after we took her home, she started eating again. She looked like she was making a small recovery and we didn't want to euthanize an animal who wanted to live. We cancelled the appointment. However, on Friday she stopped eating again and went downhill quickly. We could not call for another appointment because it was a holiday weekend and no one was there. She seemed to hang on to life for so long...she just did not want to let go, quite different than Vladimir who surprised us three years ago with his sudden death. I am glad she finally left us...lingering is not good. I watched her as she died. Stan took her outside so that she could die outside. She loved the outdoors...we used to have her as an indoor/outdoor cat when we lived in Colorado before it got too dangerous. Last Labor Day was when Hieronymus fell down the stairs. We thought he wouldn't make it. He did. The Labor Day before that we got a squirrel in our house. Labor Days always have weird animal things happen that causes Stan to have to leave work early. Stan always has to work Labor Days because he works every Monday. Ironic, because this is the first time he's ever been in a union. Ah, the Unions...the people who brought us Labor Day. I hate Labor Day.
One of my readers sent me this link about Monarch Migration. It's quite interesting, and the little cartoon of the Monarch caterpillar in the top left is so funny with the little turd. (Amusing for this Monarch Mom nonetheless). Haven't posted much lately...having a really hard time right now with my cat Natasha and such. Too stressful. The butterflies seem like the only bright thing in my and Stan's life right now.
